The Administrative Assistant plays an integral role in a wide variety of Admissions Office activities. The position provides support for daily operations including email and telephone correspondence, visitor reception, calendar management, recordkeeping, and more. The Administrative Assistant will help coordinate and support campus events hosted by the Admissions Office, with responsibilities including assisting with event planning and managing a wide variety of internal logistics, materials, and communications. The Administrative Assistant also provides administrative support to admissions counselors by making travel arrangements, booking appointments, preparing applications for review, and other general support as needed. The position interfaces with many constituencies including current students, prospective students and families, alumni, other campus employees, and the general public.
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Applicants must possess excellent customer service skills with the ability to work cooperatively with others under pressure of deadlines and interruptions; and an interest in working as a member of a campus community that strives for diversity, equity, and inclusivity.
Additionally, the applicant must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; the ability to organize, prioritize, and accomplish tasks efficiently and accurately; sensitivity to and acceptance of the demands of confidentiality; and strong typing, grammar and spelling skills; comfortable juggling multiple projects that involve logistics, planning, and executing tasks with deadlines; work effectively with others and perform to the best of personal abilities to successfully accomplish individual, departmental and College goals.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
Prior administrative experience in a fast-paced office setting, including general office management and use of customer relationship management ( CRM ) software, is strongly preferred. Administrative support experience in a higher education setting and experience working in customer service is preferred.
Standard Work Days and Hours
Primarily first shift, M – F, 8:30 – 5:00, year round.
