Position Summary:

The individual who assumes this position will report to the Vice Provost for Faculty and Staff Affairs (VPFSA) in the Office of the Provost. The portfolio of the VPFSA includes management of centrally funded initiatives for faculty recruitment, hiring and retention; oversight of centrally-managed professorships; a collaborative role in welcoming new faculty, onboarding and professional development for department chairs, and dual career couple services; a collaborative leadership role in developing new training for faculty and staff to enhance climate and diversity efforts; a role in supporting new and existing mentoring efforts, and numerous other specific responsibilities.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

BA required, MA and/or terminal degree desired but not required

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

- Minimum of 4 years of experience in higher education setting required.
- Experience in academic affairs and/or human resource development in higher education on the UW-Madison campus.
- Experience serving on campus-wide, or school/college level committees.
- Program development experience.

- Excellent writing and oral communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and demonstrated ability to work with diverse community member.
- Highly organized and motivated, with excellent attention to detail and follow-through
- Evidence of the ability to handle confidential matters appropriately
- Understanding of shared governance, as well as campus policies and procedures
- Experience working with both quantitative and qualitative information, and facility in managing detailed information utilized by multiple colleagues.
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt to the flow of multiple projects with varying deadlines
- Experience as a highly supportive and collaborative team member
- Experience interpreting and communicating school, college or campus policies and procedures
