Job Summary

The Computer Science and Information Systems department is seeking adjunct professors for multiple courses for the Fall 2021 semester. Please note that applicants do not need all skills listed as we are seeking instructors for multiple courses. See below for course topics.

Adjunct responsibilities include preparing and/or managing course materials and instruction; following provided course outlines and assessing objectives; performing certain administrative tasks such as submitting course grades, syllabus, and attendance; occasionally participating in professional development activities, and meeting with students before or after class as needed.

Teaching assignments could be any combination of face-to-face, hybrid, online or using teleconference software like Zoom, either daytime or evening.

• Database Management, SQL, PL/SQL (CIS 260)
• Systems Analysis and Design (CIS 242)
• Unix utilities, Bash Shell Scripting (CIS 204)
• Programming skills (Java, Python, C#) (CS 134, CIS 142, Other CS)
• Data Science, Data Mining (DS 210, DS 260)
• Microsoft Office Applications (CIS 124)
• Discrete Structures / Discrete Mathematics (CS 210, CS 211)
• Experience with learning management systems

Required Qualifications

Master's degree or above in computer science (or subfield) or computer information systems or other as appropriate for teaching data science courses OR a master's degree or above with 18 graduate credit hours in computer science (or subfield) or computer information systems or other as appropriate for teaching data science courses OR a bachelor's degree or above and a combination of:
at least two years of discipline-related work experience (non-teaching); and
discipline-related coursework at a level above the course desired to teach
Current industry or educational experience in computer science, information systems and/or data analytics
Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Discipline-related certifications may ease the coursework and discipline-related work experience requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with learning management systems
Programming skills (Java, C++, Python)
PL/SQL, Oracle Application Development, Systems Analysis skills
Data Science with knowledge of data mining
Microsoft Office Applications
Teaching experience in an academic setting
Ability to teach online using Zoom or similar platform
