Primary Function

Assist head coach in coaching student-athletes, implementation and instruction of game strategy, recruiting prospective student-athletes, monitoring student-athlete academic progress, program organization, managing travel, managing student-athlete scholarships and overseeing the discipline, conduct and image of the sport program and student-athletes of a major university sport program in conjunction with other departmental responsibilities as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities (generally)

This is a professional coaching position and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules and regulations of affiliated national, regional and state intercollegiate athletic associations, the Mid-American conference (or subsequent member conference) and the university.

Minimum Required Qualifications for this position

Bachelor’s Degree.
Minimum of 5 years collegiate coaching experience.
Minimum of two years teaching basketball skills, game and training strategies, and progressions.
Minimum one year experience with scouting reports, assisting in daily practice, and individual player relationship.

Specialty Factors (Additional Required Qualifications)

Education and Experience Preferred

Master’s degree.
Experience with Sportcode and Synergy software programs.
Coaching experience with a Division I, II, or III basketball program.
Former Division I, II, or III basketball student-athlete.

Ability to communicate with and relate well to student-athletes, coaching and department support staff.

Ability to effectively communicate through oral, written and electronic forms.

As a staff member within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, you are responsible for knowledge of and compliance with National Collegiate Athletics Association ( NCAA ) regulations, both those general in nature and those which apply directly to your position’s responsibilities. Strict adherence to all applicable governing policies, procedures, and regulations of the NCAA is required and is a condition of your employment.

Working Hours
8-4:30pm, some weekends and nights
Minimum Pay Rate (Hourly or Monthly)
$70,000 - $85,000
Hiring Rate Information

Actual hiring rate is commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity; position includes a robust benefits package to eligible applicants.
