The starting faculty salary range for 2020-2021 is $57,354 – $65,815 for a 1.0 FTE, 168-day, academic year contract. The salary range for the 2021-22 academic year has yet to be determined. New faculty will be hired for a 168-day contract plus an additional 3 days to attend Fall term Instructional Strategies Institute ( ISI ) training. LBCC offers an excellent comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision. Includes 3-4 weeks off during Winter Break, 1 week Spring Break, and several additional holidays off throughout the academic year. Professional development funds for faculty are available as well as tuition waivers for employees and dependents studying at LBCC (restrictions and limitations apply).

This position is subject to Article 31 of the Faculty Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. In the event of a reduction in force, this position may be afforded less protection than non-Article 31 faculty. Position Title: Coding/Medical Assisting Faculty Division/Department: Medical Assisting Location Healthcare Occupations Center, Lebanon, OR Job Summary:

Teaching to include all Coding and Reimbursement related courses and possibly some medical assisting and office technology related courses for job readiness as indicated by industry, national and state standards. Assist with coordinating medical externships in collaboration with medical assisting faculty. Ensure and emphasize safe working and classroom conditions and practices. Maintain and/or obtain current licenses and certificates in areas of expertise as required.

Required Qualifications:

Current credentials as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder). Teaching experience at the post-secondary level or related experience, such as skills training, precepting students, or military service teaching. Minimum 4 years’ experience as a CPC or closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s degree or higher preferred. Current CMA Certification preferred. Demonstrated experience in teaching and educational theory a plus. Experience in instructional design with traditional and online teaching. Strong organizational skills.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Essential Duties:

Assist the department in teaching a variety of courses that may include all coding and reimbursement courses, and potentially medical terminology, clinical office procedures ( COP ), EKG, phlebotomy, physician’s office lab ( POL ), AHA CPR and First Aid, medical insurance, medical law and ethics, documentation and screening, and other office technology related courses such as medical office procedures, medical math, human relations, and medical information processing as needed.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Collaborate with a practicum coordinator to manage externships and relationships with current practicum sites as needed.

Facilitate 2-3 Advisory Committee meetings annually and retain and recruit active members.

Lead the Coding and Reimbursement program including required program documentation, curriculum planning, and course scheduling in collaboration with the Medical Assisting Dept. Chair or as acting Program Director.

Assignment may also include utilizing innovative instructional design, which includes interactive computer and multimedia systems.

Work effectively with students and staff from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages. Successfully interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an education team.

Work with staff to ensure compliance with current accreditation by CAAHEP and AAMA .

Maintain office hours and advise students.

Work on college committees as needed or assigned, and actively participate in the affairs of the division, college and business community.

Maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continued professional development.

Maintain orderliness of the learning environment and the appropriate and safe use of instructional facilities and equipment.
