Description

Columbia Basin College ("CBC" or the "College") seeks a Non-Permanent Program Assistant who supports the Transitional Studies programs and students which includes Adult Basic Education, High School Completion, High School Equivalency, Soar to Success and English Language Acquisition. This position will be supervised by the Director for Transitional Studies Operations.
This position is open until filled. First consideration will be given to applicants whose complete application has been received by May 3, 2021 @ 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary contact for Transitional Studies students requiring assistance in PeopleSoft navigation after go-live;
  • Assist prospective Transitional Studies students in registration and enrollment activities in PeopleSoft system after go-live;
  • Assist in composing correspondence and printed materials related to program policies, procedures and operations;
  • Schedule appointments for student intake, testing and orientations;
  • Establish and maintain physical and electronic records and files; record statistical information; use spreadsheet and database software to work with records;
  • Administer and proctor standardized tests to students using the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems ("CASAS") e-tests program and Test of Adult Basic English ("TABE"); score and record scores in program database for further analysis;
  • Utilize Washington Adult Basic Education Reporting Systems (“WABERS”) for data entry and verification as well as using it to prepare reports of student data;
  • Receive, catalog and maintain inventory of standardized testing supplies in a secure location as required by the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges;
  • Receive and maintain inventory; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; and
  • Two (2) years of experience providing clerical assistance.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree from an institutionally accredited college or university;
  • Work experience assisting non-native English speakers.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This position is a full-time, overtime-eligible, classified staff position. This is a non-permanent position with employment up to 18 months. The typical work hours for this position are Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; however, must be available to work a flexible schedule when prior notice is given by the College. This position is available July 1, 2021.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including having the ability to move materials on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc. and travel between buildings on campus. Manual dexterity and coordination are required to operate equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Usual office working conditions. The noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises.
