Facilities Maintenance II - Physical Plant Wasatch Campus

Summary:
Are you responsible, hardworking and enjoy doing repairs and maintenance? UVU is seeking a facilities maintenance worker who will be responsible for performing preventative and repair maintenance to ensure all buildings and/or equipment are in a good and safe operating condition. Some positions may perform a variety of tasks requiring specialized skills in multiple trades. Performs maintenance and/or construction work requiring the application of trade skills, codes, and standard trade practices. Inspects assigned buildings, grounds, fixtures, machines, appliances and other units. Notes where maintenance repair is required. Performs minor installation, repair, and replacement of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, heating and cooling systems as needed. Reports any complex or unusual problems to supervisor. Estimates time, personnel, and material required on assigned tasks and keeps necessary records. Responsible for providing custodial care for buildings and facilities. Maintains offices, classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, and other areas by performing general housekeeping and light maintenance duties. Provides custodial maintenance through vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, and removing trash. May maintain or deliver supplies.

Hours for this position are 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.
This position is located at the Wasatch Campus in Heber, Utah.

Required Qualifications:
Graduated with a standard high school or the equivalent plus one to three years of experience related to key roles and responsibilities.

Must have a valid driver’s license.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of training in proper use and disposal of hazardous chemicals and products.
• Knowledge of body fluid cleanup and proper protection.
• Knowledge of proper radio communications.
• Knowledge of pest control.
• Knowledge of all floor types, such as terrazzo, cement, wood, vinyl, and ceramic tile as well as carpet fibers, weaves and backings.
• Knowledge of waxes/polishes, acids, other chemicals, buffers, extractors, vacuums and scrubbers.
• Knowledge of current cleaning techniques and proper cleaning chemicals.
• Good interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to withstand strenuous and adverse working conditions.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform skilled custodial duties, equipment maintenance and minor
  plumbing.
• Ability to climb ladders to replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and perform other
  cosmetic repairs.

Physical Requirements:
-Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. -Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
-Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
-Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Pay Range: $31,052 to $38,816
