The Department of Geography at the University of Calgary invites applications for a limited-term instructor appointment (2 years) with an anticipated start date of July 1st, 2021.  

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Geography or related field with a demonstrated record of scholarship in Geography or Urban Studies. The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be teaching in the Geography and Urban Studies programs, including teaching urban geography and geospatial (GIS, remote sensing, and/or quantitative spatial analysis) courses.  The successful applicant is expected to teach seven undergraduate courses per year and participate in course coordination and curriculum discussions. They will also have the opportunity to be involved in sustaining a vibrant undergraduate program through extra-curricular activities and events on campus, as well as within the broader community. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness, pedagogical innovation, and engagement with students, as well as a demonstrated record of collaborations across disciplines.  

The Department of Geography is a research-intensive department with high standards in teaching and research.
