Dean of Academic Affairs
Columbia-Greene Community College seeks a Dean of Academic Affairs who will provide leadership in an inclusive environment and oversee a portfolio of academic services that support college operations and overall student experience. The College seeks an individual who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, and student-centered learning community and foster a culture of student access and success, retention, and completion. Reporting to the Provost/Senior Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, the ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and build positive relationships with other areas of the college to advance institutional priorities.
The ideal candidate will understand the benefits diversity brings to a learning and working environment. Therefore, the College is looking for an individual with the ability to serve students from a broad range of cultural heritages, socioeconomic backgrounds, genders, abilities, and orientations. In addition, the next Dean of Academic Affairs will value equity, student success, and the opportunity to work in a collegial, collaborative environment, guided by a commitment to help all students achieve their educational goals. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the current higher education landscape – especially in light of the global pandemic.
- Master’s degree in one of the College’s academic programs, higher education, or related field
- Ability to effectively lead and advance the mission, vision, and values of a comprehensive
- community college through interactions with students, employees, and community members
- Superior team-building and oral and written communication skills
- Ability to lead the implementation and continuous improvement of academic assessment
- Experience with developing innovative academic programs
- Knowledge of faculty tenure, promotion, and sabbatical processes
- Knowledge of shared governance and a track record of working with faculty and faculty
- Experience with academic appeals processes
- Demonstrated ability to manage financial and instructional resources of Academic Affairs
- Experience working in a unionized setting, especially in community College
- Ability to implement strategic planning activities
- Knowledge of New York state and federal regulations in higher education
- Teaching experience required
- D. in student affairs or higher education administration
- Five or more years of experience demonstrating progressive responsibility
- Proven talent for relationship building with internal and external stakeholders
- Well-formed leadership philosophy honed listening skills, and experience delivering desired
- Track record of documenting an understanding of all areas of Academic Affairs including
- experience with fiscal prudence and accountability
Salary and Benefit Information
Annual salary will commensurate with education and experience.
