Assistant Professor of Nursing

The School of Nursing in the College of Health and Human Services is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Professor. This is a 10-month, tenure track position.

Area of Specialization: Community Health and/or Psychiatric Mental Health

Primary Job Duties: Participate in the development, teaching, organization, and evaluation of Community Health and /or Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (didactic & clinical). Participate in the development, teaching, organization, and evaluation of clinical and didactic education for undergraduate nursing students. Advise and evaluate students in clinical settings, including conducting site visits to preceptor locations. Build/maintain collaborative interdisciplinary relationships within the school, college, university and in the community. Maintain active scholarship. Participate in faculty governance. Provide service to the school, university, and profession. Develop and implement curricula in order to prepare students adequately for the challenges presented within all aspects of the nursing field. Participate in the development, teaching, organization, and evaluation of clinical and/or didactic education for graduate nursing students’ capstone practicum and/or DNP project to facilitate the transition from nursing student to nurse leader.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field and license to practice in Maryland or compact State; or, Master's degree in nursing with psych mental health nursing experience (hired at rank of instructor) with the expectation that candidate would complete a doctoral degree in a timely manner within five (5) years of appointment) and also be licensed to practice nursing in Maryland or a compact State. Minimum of 3 years community health and/or psychiatric mental health nursing clinical experience. Must possess professional effective oral and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree in nursing or related field or enrollment in a doctoral program. Prior academic experience. Certification: Community Health or Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (ANCC).
