Viterbo University is pleased to invite applications for a 10-month, tenure track faculty leadership position as the Executive Director of Inclusive Teaching and Learning, reporting directly to the Vice President of Academics. We seek a highly motivated, experienced faculty member with strong interpersonal communication, organizational and administrative skills to lead efforts to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across the institution’s teaching and learning environment. The person in this position will serve as part of the academic leadership team and will focus on building the capacity of faculty as well as leading curricular review and revision related to DEI.

The person in this leadership position will have previous full-time university teaching experience and academic qualifications (minimum Master’s degree, terminal degree preferred) to teach DEI-related courses. Qualification and experience in Ethnic Studies, Comparative American Cultures, Cultural Anthropology, or related field is strongly preferred. Teaching responsibilities may include up to two undergraduate courses per term.

The goal of the administrative position is to provide leadership for collaboration and professional learning to systematically implement teaching and learning strategies that promote student engagement and supportive teaching and learning environments for all. The Executive Director of Inclusive Teaching and Learning will collaborate with other academic leaders and departments to support the intentional integration of culturally relevant teaching and learning practices into the university curricula and programs. They will provide staff and faculty with professional learning opportunities including coaching and sharing of pedagogical practice to develop capacity and confidence in strategies that meet diverse learning needs. They will develop assessments, measure, analyze, and report progress pertaining to faculty development activities, curriculum revision, and related diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. The person in this position will serve on the university’s hate-bias response team and will also work closely with the Director of International & Intercultural Student Success, the Executive Director of Mission and Social Justice, the Faculty Development Director, and the Assistant VP of HR and Institutional Equity.

Required Qualifications include (1) Previous full-time university teaching experience, (2) Master's degree (a terminal degree is preferred and is required for a tenure track position).

Preferred Qualifications include (1) Academic qualification and experience in Ethnic Studies, Comparative American Cultures, Cultural Anthropology, or related field, (2) Previous administrative, program development, or faculty development experience, or experience consulting on DEI-related initiatives.

Rank and Salary: This appointment will be at a faculty rank commensurate with the successful candidate's experience.  Salary competitive with other private institutions of similar size.
