Independent Colleges and Universities of New Jersey

The Independent Colleges and Universities of New Jersey (ICUNJ) seeks nominations, expressions of interest, and applications for an experienced and accomplished leader to serve as president. The president will work energetically and passionately on behalf of independent higher education in New Jersey to advocate for state and federal support, engage in fund-raising, and strengthen existing and develop new corporate partnerships.

ICUNJ is a non-profit organization with a mission to advance the interests of New Jersey's 14 independent, non-profit colleges and universities, which serve collectively more than 65,000 students. ICUNJ has its roots in two separate but related organizations – the Independent College Fund of New Jersey and the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of New Jersey – who will complete a merger in summer 2021. The new president will report to the Board of ICUNJ, which is comprised of the 14 independent college and university presidents plus four executives from the New Jersey corporate community.

The president of ICUNJ will provide visionary leadership that increases the stature and capacity of member institutions to provide access for New Jersey's students to the transformational educational opportunities they offer. The president will serve as an articulate, visible, and energetic public advocate for independent higher education in New Jersey in the state capitol, with the Congressional delegation, and with corporate leaders with a commitment to focus on policies that promote student choice in New Jersey. The president will be an entrepreneurial, proactive, and collaborative leader with success and passion for fund-raising and the ability to handle the governance, fiscal, and administrative responsibilities of managing a small, nonprofit organization. The successful candidate should have significant leadership experience and a demonstrated record of success in government, corporate relations, higher education, or the not-for-profit sector; an advanced degree is preferred.
