NON-TENURE TRACK OPEN RANK RESEARCH FACULTY POSITIONS IN EPIDEMIOLOGY

At a time when public health has never been more important, Temple University’s College of Public Health is working to solve health’s complexities for a better tomorrow. As one of the largest colleges of public health in the country, we are home to faculty specializing in 17 health disciplines and conduct novel research and prepare researchers, practitioners and educators to collaborate across disciplines to understand community needs, create evidence-based solutions, and deliver effective, compassionate care. We invite applications for positions as non-tenure track, open-rank Research Faculty in Epidemiology to conduct research and teach undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in epidemiology starting August 2021.

Qualifications. We seek collegial faculty who have an earned doctorate in epidemiology, environmental health, or a related discipline prior to start date. Those with an active research agenda focused on cancer prevention and control, infectious diseases, international health, mental health, maternal and child health, or environmental health are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidates will conduct collaborative and independent research and build a funded portfolio while teaching classes. Ideal candidates should be skilled in teaching quantitative courses to students with a range of aptitude. Online teaching experience is highly desirable. The Department. The Department combines curiosity with rigorous, applied methods that lead us to compelling questions and impactful results to improve public health. We have 15 faculty members who conduct research in several areas, such behavioral and chronic disease epidemiology, cancer prevention and control, perinatal and reproductive epidemiology, substance use disorders, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, and the impact of environmental exposures on waterborne diseases, cognitive decline, cardiovascular disease as well as mediation, causal inference, missing data and measurement error, semiparametric regression, latent variable modeling, and psychometrics. Our collaborators include, but are not limited to Fox Chase Cancer Center, Temple’s Katz School of Medicine, Temple’s Health System, other health systems, community health centers, and local and state public health agencies. The Department operates the Biostatistics Core, which engages in collaborative research and offers comprehensive biostatistical consultation and computational services. The Department annually enrolls ~1,800 students with diverse backgrounds in our courses and has >90 graduate students in 5 programs – PhD in Epidemiology; MPH degrees in Epidemiology, Applied Biostatistics, and Environmental Health; and MS in Epidemiology. The Department contributes to the College’s nationally recognized BS in Public Health and administers a minor in Applied Epidemiology.

The College. Devoted to an interprofessional environment for academic programming and research, the College of Public Health, a CEPH-accredited school of public health, is a constellation of academic units of public health, social work and health profession disciplines, enrolling 4,300 students. The College’s research focuses on social, behavioral, and environmental inquiries, medical/health interventions, and basic science and is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, and other major funders. The College has recently launched a new Center focused on Community Engaged Research and Practice. We are harnessing the collective energies of our clinical disciplines through an emerging, innovative framework for interprofessional education.
