Summary
Baylor College of Medicine has an opening for a full-time Neurology Surgeon faculty position at The Children's Hospital of San Antonio. This position comes with a faculty appointment, a competitive salary, and a full benefits package. The candidates' credentials and experience will determine the rank of the academic appointment.
Job Duties
Responsibilities: admit, evaluate, diagnose, consult and provide non-operative and pre-, intra- and post-operative care to pediatric patient (neonate, children and young adults) with injuries or disorders of the central peripheral and autonomic nervous system including their supporting structure and vascular supply. May provide care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with unit policies. Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum Education: M.D./D.O. degree or equivalent. Successful completion of an Accreditation council for graduate medical education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited residency in neurosurgery during which at least a minimum of one (1) additional year was formal training in a pediatric neurosurgery.
- Minimum Certification/Licenses: Licensed by the Texas Medical Board (or eligible for same);
- Current certification in neurological surgery by the American Board of Neurosurgery or the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery OR eligible for same;
- Experience: Demonstrated current competence and evidence of at least fifty (50) pediatrics neurosurgical procedures, reflective of the scope of privileges requested, during the past 12 months or successful completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency or clinical fellowship within the past 12 months.
