Assistant Director (Corps of Cadets Liaison)

Job Description

Assistant Director, (Liaison to Corps of Cadets), under the direction of the Director for Recruitment and Operations of Undergraduate Admissions, will play a critical role in planning and conducting outreach activities related to recruitment of first year and transfer students with special emphasis on the Corps of Cadets. The Assistant Director, (Corps of Cadets), coordinates activities including on-campus events, travel for recruitment fairs, national conferences, regional school visits, and networking events assigned by recruitment territory.

This position serves as one of a team of assistant directors who plan, implement, and administer programs and initiatives designed to target, recruit, and admit students in undergraduate degree programs.

Core Responsibilities: Develops innovative plans to support university goals of attracting an academically talented and diverse undergraduate student population. Manages assigned territory; visits high schools and community colleges, speaks to groups and individual students, and promotes outreach activities. Counsels and advises prospective undergraduate students and families regarding undergraduate educational opportunities, admissions procedures, transfer of credit, financial assistance and programs, and university policies and entrance requirements. Reviews applications, makes admission decisions, documents as appropriate, and generates reports. Conducts special assignments. Serves as liaison with various internal and external constituencies as appropriate, to include domestic and international students, parents, school officials, faculty, alumni, and various external agencies. Investigates and responds to inquiries from students and advisors on recruitment, admissions and retention issues. Participates in various university and state committees and, (as budget allows), regional professional organizations. Performs professional development activities, and miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.

This position requires some evening and weekend work (about once a month), and out of town travel (approximately up to five full or partial weeks each fall and three partial weeks each spring). Must be able to lift, independently, at least 40 pounds.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with admissions experience; experience working with diverse populations; demonstrated organizational skills to accommodate multiple priorities, exemplary interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with individuals and large groups; computer proficiency with Microsoft Office or comparable software.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree; experience in an admissions higher education setting; experience with Corps of Cadets or veteran status.
