Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs, the HR Associate Director serves as a resource for the School of Nursing. As the lead member of a team of HR professionals in the School of Nursing, this position is responsible for coordination of all aspects of HR, and is directly responsible for areas including workforce relations; recruitment, assessment, and selection; and striving for a diverse and inclusive workforce, incorporating principles of diversity and inclusion throughout all HR functions. This position will have responsibilities in various workforce relations functions, serve as secondary accommodation and FMLA confidential representative/coordinator for the School of Nursing, provide support and direction for high-level searches, consultation for recruitments, conduct assessments and audits on recruitment efforts, provide leadership for the on-boarding process, and supervise the two other HR staff, providing direct leadership for the HR enterprise in the school.

The person in this position must have a collaborative, service oriented approach to facilitate and foster effective professional working relationships across the school and University. They will need to understand and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information with professionalism and discretion. They must be able to balance working autonomously and as part of a team with leading a small team of HR professionals to provide effective and efficient day-to-day service, supporting the greater School of Nursing goals and mission.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree in personnel/HR management, organizational psychology, business/management or related field preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

* Minimum five years of experience working in human resource and/or related business
services, at UW preferred. Minimum seven years for senior prefix.
* Knowledge of policies and laws related to Human Resources; UW policies, procedures, and systems strongly preferred.
* Experience and knowledge managing human resource activities in a complex organization.
* Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Experience with developing and sustaining collaborative work relationships.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Experience with utilizing data and generating reports.
* Commitment to diversity, inclusion and engagement applied to all areas of HR.
* Experience with and a strong commitment to customer service.
