Position Reports To: Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration

Position Summary: This individual is responsible for the administration and oversight of the Office of Student Accounts, which ensures that all tuition, room, board and fees due the University are billed, collected, posted, deposited and reconciled timely and accurately in a manner that complies with University policies and procedures as well as Federal and State regulations. The Director of Student Accounts oversees the monthly student billing, posting of payments, collection of account balances, administration of payment plans and monitoring delinquent accounts as well as maintenance of the CampusVue system.

Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory experience in Accounts Receivable required, with preference for experience in a student-focused or higher education environment
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulations related to student accounts preferred
  • Previous experience with accounts receivable billing systems required, CampusVue or other student information system preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership and people development experience preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Experience with internal controls related to deposits and cash handling required
  • Computer proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High level of ethics and professional integrity
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Detail oriented

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Student Accounts team, comprised of three full time staff, and temporary student workers and/or interns as applicable
  • Ensure adherence to University policy regarding all aspects of student accounts; recommend process improvements as applicable
  • Foster an environment of compassionate customer service to our students through collaboration with Financial Aid, Admissions, the Registrar's office and other campus constituents
  • Ensure confidentiality of student records in relation to FERPA
  • Communicate clearly with students, academic and administrative departments to encourage a thorough understanding University billing policies
  • Maintain, monitor and reconcile student accounts through the ownership of the CampusVue billing database including the set-up and management of billing methods and course-based fees
  • Prepare and distribute financial aid notifications as aid is disbursed
  • Oversee the distribution of monthly billing statements
  • Supervise department staff in the collection of payments and daily processing of charges, adjustments and refunds and monitoring of financial holds
  • Monitor delinquent accounts and maximize recovery by utilizing departmental and outside collection processes as appropriate
  • Collaborate with the office of Finance & Administration for routine periodic review of student accounts, including aging and key performance indicators
  • Supervise and process non-standard adjustments to student accounts
  • Administer mandatory waiver process for student health insurance plan, in collaboration with Student Affairs
  • Review and transmit data to third party processor for annual 1098-T forms
  • Represent the Office of Student Accounts at campus programs and events
  • Serve on various University committees as requested
  • Manage the departmental budget
  • Contribute to the University's annual external financial and compliance audit.
  • Other duties as assigned
