Job Description

The Daytona Beach Campus is currently accepting applications for the position of UAS Flight Training Manger. This position will support the Bachelor of Science in Unmanned Aircraft Systems program, which is housed in the Campus College of Aviation on the Daytona Beach. The individual selected for this position will conduct flight operations using small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) while supporting the use of various simulation platforms. The UAS Flight Training Manager will work with faculty and staff to create instructional materials required for sUAS flight operations, however, the primary duty of this position will be to deliver in-field flight instruction using to students enrolled in the UAS degree program.

The UAS Flight Training Manager will be required to travel remotely when UAS flight activities are not conducted on campus. All flight operations will be conducted under Part 107 with the exception of those conducted under waiver. This position will report directly to the Chair of the Aeronautical Science Department with various other duties assigned as needed.

The UAS Flight Training Manager will bring a strong record of experience in the following areas:

  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations, policy and current guidance pertaining to UAS technologies
  • Experience with Piccolo Command Center
  • Experience in maintaining UAS platforms and support equipment
  • Knowledge of record-keeping requirements
  • Supervision of UAS flight training activities

Primary duties:

  • Plan, conduct, and supervise all UAS flight operations and flight instructor personnel.
  • Assisting the department chair in assessing and projecting needs of the UAS flight program
  • UAS flight operation records management
  • Ensure FAA compliance for all UAS operations
  • Safety assurance and promotion
  • UAS flight instruction and evaluation


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in UAS Operations or related field
  • Penguin C experience preferred or experience with other Piccolo equipped aircraft
  • Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in BVLOS operations
  • Experience in obtaining operational waivers under FAR Part 107
  • Development of civilian UAS training programs
