Position Summary

This project coordinator position will be responsible for organization and management of a federally-funded research grant which explores the factors influencing language outcomes for students who speak different dialects of English. The ultimate goal of the project is to improve the identification of language disorders among elementary school students who speak African American English. Principal Investigator: Alison Hendricks, PhD, Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences.

Primary responsibilities include:
• Coordinating with schools and community organizations in the Buffalo area
• Recruitment and scheduling of research participants
• Training undergraduate and graduate student research assistants
• Collecting/ analyzing research data using standardized assessments
• Maintaining website and social media for the research project
• Manage project budget and finances

The successful candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, strong interpersonal and organizational skills. The candidate will have strong leadership skills and be able to work independently and oversee student research assistants. Given the nature of the research area, a successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity. Strong experience in community outreach and community organization is highly desirable.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Six months experience in community organization or research with human subjects
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and computer literacy skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communication disorders, psychology, education or related field
• Experience in research project management
• Experience with research computer software, such as Microsoft Access, Redcap, SPSS
