Removable Dental Technician, Restorative Dentistry

Position Summary

The Department of Restorative Dentistry invites qualified applicants for the Removable Dental Technician position. The incumbent will fabricate complete and partial denture prostheses for totally and partially edentulous patient treatments.

Included in these procedures are the following:
(1) dental cast fabrications from impressions;
(2) arrangement of artificial teeth on articulated casts providing prescribed arch form and occlusal contacts;
(3) waxing of anatomic contours to support artificial teeth for complete and partial prostheses; investing/processing/recovery and refinement of complete and partial prostheses using heat polymerized methyl methacrylate resin;
(4} repair of existing prostheses adapting wrought wire clasps as indicated and using autopolymerized methyl methacrylate resin to affix clasps, repair fractured resin bases and secure dental teeth.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Significant experience in removable techniques
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity that displays sound 3-D spatial and visual perceptions
  • Ability to read and write English to accommodate doctor’s prescriptions and work authorizations
  • Fluent understanding of laboratory terminology
  • Ability and willingness to follow detailed instructions
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Teaching or training experience a plus

Preferred Qualifications
  • CDT Certification
  • Formal Technical Education (Harkness/ ECC 2 yr)
