Human Resources Recruitment and Engagement Manager

Position Purpose: The HR Recruitment and Engagement Manager (MRE) supports learning through oversight and coordination of the university's human resources functional areas of recruitment, professional development, employee onboarding, and retention. This position manages all position searches to include job description development, position marketing, active outreach to potential candidates, candidate review, interview to offer processes, and the onboarding of successful candidates. This position develops and maintains all recruitment and onboarding materials. This position is also responsible for the development and execution of supervisor training and professional development for employees. This position reports to the Senior Director of Human Resources and assists with the development and implementation of new policies, services, and programs to meet the needs of the campus community. This position acts as back-up to the Senior Director of Human Resources.

  • Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborating with the Senior Director of Human Resources, develop and implement full cycle recruiting and talent acquisition process for open positions to include job description development, recruiting plans, candidate evaluation, interview to offer project management, and onboarding.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on recruiting processes ensuring equal opportunities for all applicants.
  • Coach and guide hiring managers and search committees throughout the search and selection process.
  • Develop job advertisements and collateral materials as part of an overall recruitment plan to attract top talent. Execute active outreach to prospective candidates to encourage applicants not actively in the job market.
  • Develop and lead new employee orientation programming to create a welcoming, inclusive environment for new hires to ensure successful onboarding experience
  • Develop and lead the performance review process to include the education of management to produce honest, fair, and timely feedback to employees. Coordinate the performance review cycle to ensure timely participation and completion.
  • Develop and lead professional development education series for staff and managers to improve and expand skills, workplace awareness, supervisory aptitude, etc.
  • Monitor and address employee success concerns, serve as a resource for faculty, staff and supervisors related to employment policies and procedures or to address concerns, conflicts, disciplinary or performance issues.
  • Assist the Sr. Manager for Human Resources on projects or other institutional objectives as needed.


  • Essential Job Requirements:

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field required.


    Experience:

    • 5+ years of relevant experience required; with experience in higher education or not-for-profit setting strongly preferred.


    Skills:

    • Ability to interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students and develop strong working relations with colleagues, staff, administrators.
    • Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills.
    • Experience with recruiting and onboarding functions.
    • Experience developing and presenting professional development training materials.
    • Experience with managing performance evaluation programs and related supervisory training.
    • Understanding of Human Resource functions and processes.
    • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
    • Excellent organization skills, strong detail orientation and ability to manage multiple tasks, while maintaining accurate information and productivity.
    • Professionalism, maturity and discretion are critical in order to handle confidential nature of function.

    • Ability to learn, apply new information quickly and appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.
    • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Able to learn/utilize other software applications as needed.


    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to spend long periods of time at a computer work station.
    • Ability to move about campus and other locations.
    • Minor lifting requirements, such as files or copy paper boxes, as needed.
    • Ability to use general office equipment.
    • Ability to interact in person, via electronic media, and on the telephone.
