  • A current resume
  • A cover letter that illustrates how you meet the positions qualifications and competencies as well as address your experience/understanding of the components of an intentionally designed experience for prospective and new students, and their families, as they navigate the college search, selection, and transition processes.

    Department Summary
It is the mission of Student Orientation Programs to introduce new and prospective students and their families to the university's intellectual climate. In addition, we seek to improve the quality of the new student experience by providing assistance with academic, personal, and social adjustment to the university, demonstrating the University of Oregon's commitment to teaching, learning, and scholarship.

Through recruitment programs such as the Ambassador Program, Duck Preview, Duck Days and orientation events such as IntroDUCKtion and Week of Welcome, Student Orientation Programs serve approximately 90,000 visitors, prospective students, new students, and families.

    Position Summary
The University of Oregon Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management is completing an exciting construction project that will co-locate a new residence hall with a new state-of-the-art Welcome Center for prospective and new students, as well as special groups visiting the University of Oregon for campus tours. Additionally, Orientation Programs is expanding its programs and events intended to increase the yield of new students and reduce “summer melt” prior to the start of fall classes. In each of these cases, the experience of prospective and new students is critical to our success.

The Coordinator for Welcome Experience will be tasked with finalizing critical components of the new recruitment center and working with department colleagues to implement a campus visit strategy aimed at the entering class of 2022 and beyond. The Coordinator will also be responsible for designing and executing attendee experiences for critical yield events such as Duck Preview, Duck Days, as well as welcome and transition events such as IntroDUCKtion, Oregon Migrations, and Week of Welcome.

As such, the Coordinator will serve as a member of several division-level yield and anti-melt strategic implementation teams, and will work with colleagues in Admissions, Strategic Communications, University Housing, and Financial Aid and Scholarships, to execute the department's elements of the in-person strategic tactics. The Coordinator will be part of a decision-making team within the Office of Student Orientation Programs and will be the primary contact for university contractors and vendors who provide services and equipment for events. The Coordinator will be expected to work closely with Strategic Communications and Marketing team members to ensure that brand execution and messaging align with university and division goals, strategies, and guidelines. This position has a significant impact on the recruitment and transition of students at the university. The Coordinator will have the discretion to make decisions about equipment, rentals, and design of several major transition programs and events.

This position will be supervised by the Director of Student Orientation Programs.
