Associate VP, Controller

Position Description: The VP, Controller is responsible for supporting the leadership of CSU and its component organizations with timely, accurate and complete financial information. Ensures that financial operations functions (payroll, purchasing and accounts payable) support the campus community with highly efficient and customer service-oriented processes. Connects strategic objectives with the details of financial accounting and financial operational processes. Supports future planning and decision making. Creates a clear expectation for ensuring compliance with applicable rules and policies. Fosters a culture that prioritizes customer service and responsiveness. Coordinating closely with the Senior VP for Business Affairs/CFO, establishes collaborative relationships with external auditors, banking partners, credit rating agencies, investment consultants and others. Direct reports include an Associate Controller and an Executive Director for Financial Operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
  • Certified Public Accountant Certification
  • Minimum of 5 years’ supervising accounting functions in a non-profit or public agency or higher educational setting
  • Prior experience with fund accounting
  • Prior experience working with PeopleSoft, Oracle or similar ERP system
  • Prior experience with publicly traded debt

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree
• 3 plus years as a controller in a public agency, nonprofit or higher education setting
