Job Title: Assistant Director, Stewardship and Donor Engagement

The Stewardship and Donor Engagement Team seeks to engage, steward and recognize Johns Hopkins donors, alumni, and volunteers according to their interests, through meaningful activities that encourage and recognize their long-term support of the institution and the positive impact of their involvement and philanthropy. Developing and maintaining a community of engaged donors and leadership volunteers is vital to the university and the success of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR). This team supports the engagement stewardship and recognition of donors and leadership volunteers across the institution at both the divisional level and as a central services bureau. Additionally, the Team collaborates with a wide range of colleagues across the Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Reporting to the Director of Stewardship and Donor Engagement, the incumbent will work todevelop and implement a creative donor experience model, with a particular focus on cultivating the pipeline of annual giving donors and continuing engagement of major gift donors ($100K- $3Million). This centrally-based position will require collaboration and coordination withteams across Development and Alumni Relations in order to support both engagement and fundraising goals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    Curate and implement a series of experiences to help move donors and prospects along the donor continuum with a particular focus on donor communications and unique stewardship opportunities, based on giving level, type and donor engagement metrics, such a donor loyalty programs, first time giving programs, etc.

    In collaboration with Offices of Annual Giving, Alumni Relations, and Homewood Undergraduate Giving teams, ensure that stewardship and donor engagement efforts align with overall campaign and solicitation communications strategy and messaging, particularly for undergraduate alumni donors.

    Create and manage identity-based giving circles with volunteer support, fund stewardship and sustainable membership structure, in collaboration with affinity programs

    Manage engagement opportunities and key milestone celebrations for major institutional donors (birthday campaigns, etc.)
    Support activities related to the engagement efforts with existing donor stewardship programs such as the Legacy Society, the entrepreneurial Founders Pledge, and divisional-based giving societies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and minimum of two years related experience required. Experience in donor relations and stewardship, front-line fundraising, marketing, and/or event production preferred.

Desired foundational competencies include the following: creativity, project management, relationship building, interpersonal skills, technology literacy, collaboration, communication, innovation, and prioritization.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
