Job Title: Associate Director, Stewardship and Donor Engagement

General Description:
The Stewardship and Donor Engagement Team seeks to engage, steward and recognize Johns Hopkins donors, alumni, and volunteers according to their interests, through meaningful activities that encourage and recognize their long-term support of the institution and the positive impact of their involvement and philanthropy. Developing and maintaining a community of engaged donors and leadership volunteers is vital to the university and the success of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR). This team supports the engagement stewardship and recognition of donors and leadership volunteers across the institution at both the divisional level and as a central services bureau. Additionally, the Team collaborates with a wide range of colleagues across the Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Under the supervision of the Director of Stewardship and Donor Engagement, the incumbent will lead efforts to design and build a systemic donor recognition program for capital projects, the Johns Hopkins Founders Wall, and other creative engagement opportunities and events. This highly visible position will work closely with university leaders and volunteers as the institution addresses important questions about the legacy of individuals who names and iconography adorn our building and programs. Success will require integrity, finesse, attention to detail, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    The incumbent will develop a program for ensuring consistency in named recognition for donors and other individuals who have contributed substantially to our institution. This position will hold a particular focus on the naming of both new and existing buildings and facilities, in partnership with the Johns Hopkins Offices of Real Estate, Construction, Planning, and Facilities, and Development and Alumni Relations leadership and other front-line fundraisers and external vendors.

    Work closely with Director of Stewardship and Donor Engagement to organize the Founders Wall recognition program; specifically, strategy development with primary relationship managers and university leadership, drafting leadership communications to donors, procuring consent forms, overseeing appropriate contracts with external vendors and facilities for engraving process.

    Manage production of personalized and creative donor recognition events for the Founders Wall Program and select donor engagement event opportunities (hard hat tours, space and academic dedications, digital/hybrid programming for top donors, etc.) to include event timelines, invitation and marketing materials production, preparation of leadership briefings, contracting and overseeing external vendors, and onsite event production for both digital and in person programs.

    Provide guidance and support to divisional development offices for donor recognition projects including production of donor walls, signage, and event assistance as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of three years of related experience required, including at least two years of prior professional experience. Experience in donor relations and stewardship, front-line fundraising, marketing, and/or event production preferred.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
