DEPARTMENT: Athletics/Student and Enrollment Services

REPORTS TO: Director, Athletics and Recreation


  1. Provides athletic training services to student athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics in accordance with rules and regulations set forth in the New Jersey Athletic Training Licensure Act.
  2. Communicates with the Director, Athletics and Recreation and the Assistant Athletic Director as it pertains to athletic training.
  3. Notifies coaches of athlete injuries and secures physician clearance forms authorizing return to athletic activities; refers injured athletes to appropriate health care providers according to guidelines in the Policy and Procedure manual and within the limits of expertise.
  4. Assists with supervision and support of the Physical Education Center’s operation in the afternoon and occasional evenings.
  5. Assists with the maintenance of the fitness room and athletic training room.
  6. Assists with the maintenance of all equipment and supplies in the Physical Education Center and prepares all related bid specifications as needed.
  7. Assists with administrative aspects of the department, including eligibility packets and updating sports information on College, Region, and NJCAA website as required.
  8. Assists with the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of all full-time and part-time staff for the department, including but not limited to, coaches and intramural officials.
  9. Assists with the management of on-campus events to facilitate the recruitment and retention of student athletes.
  10. Represents the College at various athletic conferences and regional meetings.
  11. Responsible for supervision of part-time Athletic Trainers.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Three years of experience in athletic training, including the tracking and reporting of injuries
  • Possession of certification from NATA, N.J. State Board of Medical Examiners
  • Certified in First Aid and CPR/AED
  • Annual certification in Blood Borne Pathogen (BBP) training
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills


  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Member of the ATSNJ (Athletic Trainers Society of New Jersey)
  • Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining an inclusive culture in intercollegiate athletics, with thorough expertise in diversity, inclusion, gender equity, and Title IX
  • Five years' of experience in intercollegiate athletics


SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
Some nights/weekend work required

RETIREMENT PLAN: Pension Eligible

Any Middlesex College employee hired after September 1, 2011 will have to meet the New Jersey residency law requirement.
