Job Details
The NYS Summer Writers Institute Teaching Assistant works with the
Director and Associate Director to help prepare documents and
coordinate virtual program activities. The Assistant organizes over
200 manuscripts received prior to the start of the Institute and
works closely with the Associate Director to ensure all manuscripts
are coordinated and distributed before and during the workshop
sessions. Additional responsibilities for the 2021 virtual program
include setting up Zoom meetings/classrooms/events, providing
technical assistance to faculty, staff and students during the
Institute, and assisting in the day-to-day operations of the
program. This position provides the successful candidate the unique
opportunity to work as part of a well-established arts
administration team in planning and coordinating Institute
activities. The candidate will gain relevant knowledge, skills, and
experience in working with a world-class literary conference. The
successful candidate must be a mature and responsible individual
with strong communication and organizational skills. Previous
experience working with students in an arts intensive and a
literature or arts administration background would be helpful and
references are required. This is a temporary, full-time position
extending from June 7 – July 23, 2021 (20-30 hours/week, includes
evenings,) and remuneration is $13.25 per hour. Because the 2021
Institute will be offered as a virtual program, this position will
be performed entirely online. A working knowledge of Microsoft
Office and Zoom is a must and Brightspace is preferred.
