Graduate Assistant- External Relations Fall 2021

Job Description

The Graduate Assistant (GA) External Relations will provide support and assistance to administration within the Athletics Department. The GA receives graduate school tuition covering a maximum of 9 credit hours per semester as well as a monthly stipend.

Works with Senior Associate Athletics Director to carry out all day-today aspects of the external relations operations.

Specific duties include but are not limited to: overseeing ticket operations and customer service on game day, planning and logistics,
assists with and at times facilitates in-game promotions at all home sporting events, schedule pre and in-game entertainment, assist with marketing plans and implement various grass roots marketing efforts, oversee student fan club social media site, aide in departmental special events, potential to assist with the Kansas City Chiefs Summer Training Camp that is held annually on the MWSU campus.

• Assists with other duties as assigned.
• Attends and participates in staff meetings.
• Maintains a positive and professional working relationship with athletic staff and student-athletes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, and employment is contingent on acceptance into MWSU Graduate School (2.75 GPA required for admission).
• Knowledge of University and NCAA rules and regulations
• Possess the requisite qualities for the profession; be able to handle a high workload in a demanding environment and be well organized; excellent interpersonal skills; be able to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information and issues; and able to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preference will be given to those with a Sports Marketing & Management undergraduate degree.
• Preference also given to those that have interned and have game day operations experience at their undergraduate institution.
• Prefer to have GA with working knowledge and experience in basic graphic design (photo shop, etc.).

Physical Demands

Sedentary Work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

The GA position will start 8-1-2021.
Possible work with the Chiefs camp would begin in July and pay will be in addition to the stipend.

Hours of Work

Varied hours.
Up to 20 hours per week.
