Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

VCU’s Facilities Management is seeking to hire an Operations Specialist within its Physical Plant unit.

The Operations Specialist responsibilities include but are not limited to: Service readiness of Computerized Maintenance Management System ( CMMS ), Fire Alarm Systems ( FAS ), and Building Automation Systems ( BAS ) to allow proper monitoring, command, and control of the University’s assets; coordinate operations and events ensuring prompt notification and detailed documentation; provide exemplary customer service to all Operations Center customers to include faculty, staff, students, vendors, and contractors supporting the University’s mission; identify and document system deficiencies and advise management of tasks requiring priority attention; process work requests through the University’s work request and phone systems.

Minimum Hiring Standards

This position requires experience in Facilities Management, preferably monitoring building automation and digital fire systems
Minimum of one year of BAS monitoring service experience
Minimum of one year of call center experience
Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task, analyze, and organize work processes required
Advanced personal computer skills required
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems preferred
Ability to memorize data of a repetitive nature required
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to University faculty, staff, students, vendors, contractors, and government agencies as required
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required
Virginia Driver’s License required
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU

Preferred Hiring Standards

Knowledge of various building automation systems and digital fire monitoring preferred

Required Licenses/ Certifications

Valid Virginia Driver’s License Required
