Program Director 1 - (STA007207)



Directs an ongoing university program to ensure that prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with its mission and/or specified objectives. Prepares short- and long-term goals and objectives.

  1. Plans, develops and administers methods, strategies and procedures for meeting program objectives; directs and oversees the daily activities of staff members.
  2. Prepares and monitors the annual budget and ensures that expenditures are within budget allocation.
  3. Directs and coordinates personally, or through subordinate personnel, activities concerned with carrying out the objectives of the program.
  4. Directs the preparation of and reviews reports and records of activities to ensure progress is being accomplished toward specified program objectives; modifies or changes methodology as required to redirect activities and attains objectives.
  5. Analyzes trends within program areas, maintaining expert awareness of program information and change needs.
  6. Formulates, implements, and maintains appropriate policies and procedures concerning program administration.
  7. Manages and administers grant for program, including meetings, communication coordination, scholarships and other operations.
  8. May prepare or participate in the preparation of proposals to obtain grants from state and federal agencies, and private foundation sponsors.
  9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Bachelors and 3 years experience

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

Preferred Mininum Qualifications:

· Ph.D. in Humanities, Social Sciences or a related field.
· In-depth knowledge of the Latin American/Latino Communities.
· Bi-lingual proficiency in English and Spanish, in both oral and written communication skills.
· Excellent organizational skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, along with other required software.

Additional job duties:

· Directs the IUPLR Consortium, proving administrative direction including developing, planning, goal setting, implementation, evaluation and accountability for its activities.

· Represents IUPLR at the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda, a Washington-based coalition of 45 prominent national Latino organizations.

· Develops and oversees national outreach and strategic partnerships with IUPLR member centers and external stakeholders to give continued national visibility.

· Identifies federal grant opportunities and distributes information to member centers.

· Collaborates with the host member centers to plan and organize the IUPLR Siglo and IUPLR Latino Art Now conferences .

· Chairs/co-chairs conference program committee, promotes conferences nationally, works with committee to issue call for papers, coordinate selection process, review applications, and develop conference agenda. Acts as point person communicating with scholars and presenters and oversees conference publicity materials working with designer and web person.

· Maintains consortium documents related to its activities and institutional history.

· Participate in IUPLR research working groups conducting research on themes related to cultural studies, globalization and visual culture.

· Serves as editor/co-editor of publications resulting from conference papers and/or working groups, or research reports.

· Oversees final reporting of IUPLR Working Groups.

· Manage/co-manage the development, research, implementation of IUPLR digital projects and products.

· Participate in proposal preparation aimed at obtaining additional grant support for the consortium.

· Assists with the planning of the IUPLR annual Co-Directors Meeting.

· Represents consortium in scholarly conferences, symposia and colloquia.

· Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
