The Senior Assistant Registrar is responsible for managing transcript and enrollment verification services, and serves as the chief liaison for the Barnard/Columbia Exchange Program. The senior assistant registrar oversees the office’s external and internal communications and serves as a critical member of the academic advisement team.     Responsibilities:   • Oversees all aspects of Transcript Services including serving as the School’s liaison with the National Clearinghouse for transcripts and enrollment verification. • Chief evaluator of all academic credentials of incoming students. • Serves as the academic advisor for Music students, and as the Academic Advisor and Coordinator of the Barnard, Columbia and Juilliard (BCJ), and Fordham Exchange programs.  • Assists with the management of the degree audit system and serves as the primary auditor of dance and drama student records. • Coordinates the online registration set-up for the dance and drama students. • Oversees the registration of chamber music and small performance ensembles. • Manages and maintains the physical student academic records including archival files and files stored on microfilm. • Assists Associate Registrar coordinating and presenting FERPA information to students and staff.  • Assists Associate Registrar the Registrar’s Office information posted on the Intranet, Internet, bulletin boards, and LCD screens. • Manages all correspondence with students and faculty regarding registration and graduation procedures.   • Coordinates a variety of projects, including the development of online forms and other informational and procedural documents. • Assists the Registrar in the dissemination of statistical reporting to various administrative and academic department. • Assists the Associate Registrar with preparations for the Commencement Ceremony. • Assumes responsibility for the operation of the Registrar’s Office in the absence of the Registrar and Associate Registrar. • Assists with front office customer service, including answering phones and handling walk-ins. • Travel to attend conferences and seminars as needed and directed. • Performs other related duties as assigned.     Minimum Requirements:   • Bachelor’s degree. • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an Admissions or Registrar’s office. • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing student privacy (FERPA) and records administration and retention.  • Strong computer skills, including three years of current experience with student information systems, knowledge of word processing, database, spreadsheets, communication, and presentation software. • Willingness to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment. • Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving skills. • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information. • The successful candidate must be able to work well with all levels of employees, be flexible in nature, have sound judgment with an open and collaborative style that encourages teamwork and cooperation beyond the immediate team to the broader organization.  • Ability to work with a wide range of constituencies (staff, students, faculty, and administrators) with diplomacy and tact. • Understanding of the mission of The Juilliard School as well as the School’s commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.   Preferred Background:   • Experience in the performing arts. • Experience in academic advisement. • Experience with evaluating foreign academic credentials. • At ease with adapting to new software.    The Juilliard School has an ongoing commitment to the principles and practices of diversity and inclusiveness throughout the community and strongly encourages applications from candidates who would enhance the diversity of the School's administration.
