Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs

Georgetown University - Qatar (GU-Q) is pleased to announce it is accepting applications for the position of Sr. Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

Reporting to the Dean of GU-Q, the Sr. Associate Dean for Academic Affairs is responsible for the oversight and administration of academic and faculty matters at the university. In close coordination with the Dean and the faculty, the Sr. Associate Dean will oversee the delivery of all aspects of the Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service degree, including curricular planning, scheduling, registration, Honor Council, and academic standards. In addition, they will supervise staff in the functional areas that report to Academic Affairs and develop and administer standard academic operating procedures.

The Sr. Associate Dean will work with the faculty to develop course schedules and coordinate the development and approval of academic calendars. They will work with faculty leadership to ensure that reappointment and promotion reviews are conducted in accordance with school and university policy. To this end, the Sr. Associate Dean will be expected to oversee the application of appropriate standards for faculty with regard to their teaching and research, as well as reporting and accountability of faculty research outcomes. In consultation with the Dean, the Sr. Associate Dean is responsible for coordinating the faculty hiring process.

The Sr. Associate Dean will collaborate with stakeholders on our home campus in Washington, D.C., Education City partner universities and HBKU, and GU-Q's Office of Executive and Professional Education, to develop credit bearing and non-credit bearing programs for external partners.

  • Ph.D. preferably in the humanities or social sciences.
  • Record of excellence in teaching, research, and service or significant experience as a senior academic administrator.
  • Experience managing teams and working with university academic and administrative departments.
  • Experience developing and implementing academic policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with faculty, department and curricular chairs, administrators, and staff.
  • Knowledge of the policies and procedures of Georgetown University is beneficial.
