Southern Arkansas University’s College of Science and Engineering is accepting applications for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology position with an expertise in Aquatic Ecology in the College of Science and Engineering. In addition to contributing to the core biology courses, the successful candidate will contribute to the various degree options within our biology program, including the Wildlife Biology and Conservation, and Marine Biology options.

This rapidly growing biology department is located in a modern and well-equipped 64,000 square foot science building. Southern Arkansas University offers competitive salaries commensurate with experience, as well as an excellent fringe benefit package.

Duties: Teaching responsibilities will include upper and lower division biology courses (Principles of Biology I, Ecology, Wildlife/Fisheries and/or aquatic-related courses such as Ichthyology, Limnology, Oceanography) and associated laboratories; teach upper-level electives in the applicant’s area of expertise as well as other core biology courses; supervise undergraduate research projects; serve on committees; perform scholarly activity; engage in recruitment, retention, advise students and other duties as assigned. The teaching load is expected to average 12 hours per semester

Qualifications: Doctorate degree in Biology or related field is required by time of employment; have expertise in aquatic biology; ability to teach undergraduate students; excellent communication skills; ability to work well with people; have a strong desire to interact with students both in the classroom and undergraduate research.
