The Development Program Manager is responsible for the programmatic coordination of fundraising activities in the School of Public Health (SPH). This role partners with the Assistant Dean of Development, implementing development strategy and supporting daily development activities. This includes relationship building, securing, and scheduling internal and external appointments with donors, prospects, faculty, staff, and volunteers.

The Program Manager will direct the administrative functions for the Assistant Dean of Development and, at times, the Dean. This includes preparing meeting and event briefings, finalizing travel itineraries, overseeing the unit’s budget, and tracking expenses and payments. Further, they will maintain the special events calendar and coordinate faculty and staff involvement in cultivation activities, such as lab tours and presentations.

This person will be the primary staff liaison to the unit’s academic alumni network, organizing events and activities to engage and support alumni and volunteers. They will also work directly with vendors, campus contacts, divisional colleagues, and other university administrators for alumni/donor events and activities.

The Program Manager takes a leadership role in ensuring “best in class” donor relations, stewardship, and alumni relations practices for the School of Public Health. They will ensure ethical and accurate donor and alumni record keeping, track donor transactions, and prepare cultivation/stewardship. The Development Program Manager works with Foundation Management and School of Public Health business managers to produce data and reports that monitor budgets and donations, assist in tracking performance metrics and detail the progress/impact of programs and initiatives.

The Program Manager will also work with Prospect Research to identify donors for the pipeline, and partner in the recruitment of volunteers to support the annual development plan. They may also be involved in coordinating student stories and producing other development communications, in coordination with the SPH team.

Attendance at events during and after regular office hours and weekends may be necessary. Limited travel, primarily in the College Park area, is necessary.

Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):
Bachelor’s Degree Required.

Experience:
A minimum of three years of administrative experience, including experience organizing and implementing events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• High degree of attention to detail.
• Collaborative and able to interact effectively with both external and internal audiences, and capable of building strong work relationships in a complex environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked complex environment, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, think proactively, and work independently using good judgment and experience to make decisions.
• Ability to manage budgets, ensure accurate reporting, and adhere to fiscal policies.
• Ability to utilize software to create and present documents, charts, graphs, and spreadsheets.
