The School of Arts & Humanities at Milligan University invites applications for the full-time, tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre.  This position also leads the undergraduate program in Musical Theatre.  This is a nine-month faculty position (paid over 12 months) with an anticipated start in August 2021.

Primary teaching responsibilities will include applied voice, musical theatre history and repertory, and direction or assistant direction of productions.  Other teaching duties may include core music curriculum classes, coaching an a capella vocal ensemble, vocal diction, and summer arts camp.  Additional responsibilities will include recruiting high-quality students locally and regionally, establishing mutually beneficial relationships with school and community theatre programs, maintaining a successful performing career on-and-off campus, and exhibiting a collegial spirit in collaborating with music and theatre faculty to produce department-wide concerts and theatrical productions that advance the mission of the University.  A commitment to integrating faith and learning in a liberal arts environment is essential.

Qualifications: By the time of the appointment, the candidate must hold an MM, MFA, DMA, or Ph.D. with a specialization in Musical Theatre.  Successful candidates should (1) have professional performing experience in musical theatre, (2) have extensive knowledge of musical theatre repertory and the professional theatre world, (3) demonstrate successful teaching experience in classical voice and in coaching and directing musical theatre, and (4) demonstrate a strong Christian faith, commitment to the University’s mission, and a lifestyle consistent with the University’s goals.  Musical proficiency at the keyboard is preferred.
