At the Johns Hopkins Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, we improve the health of the community and the world by setting the standard of excellence in-patient and family-centered care, education and research. We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and engaging physician to join us in these efforts and to serve as a member of the division of Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management. The ideal candidate will have a clear vision for advancing the subspecialty, as well as experience collaborating with anesthesiologists and other colleagues, and demonstrated skills in academic medicine. Role

An academic anesthesiologist responsible for clinical care, education, quality improvement, and/or research. These responsibilities include:
  • Delivery of efficient and innovative regional anesthesia and acute pain medicine to ensure consistently high quality patient care in multiple settings (ambulatory, inpatient, off-floor, etc.)
  • Collaborations among divisional faculty and other clinical and/or basic research scientists across campus
  • Educating medical students, residents, and/or fellows in regional anesthesiology and acute pain medicine

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must show successful completion of an approved regional anesthesia and acute pain fellowship and residency program in anesthesiology. Candidates must hold an MD, DO, or equivalent degree and be eligible for licensure in Maryland. Candidates must be board eligible or board certified in anesthesiology.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
