Summer Camp Health Director

The Skidmore Summer Camp Health Director (CHD) is primarily responsible for supervising health and safety at Camp Northwoods (CNW), Skidmore’s day camp for children in grades 1-6. The Director handles health emergencies and injuries, including emergency preparedness and provisions for professional health care, and reports required incidents to the local health department. The Health Director will also support the staff of Skidmore’s Sports Camps in health and safety matters as needed.

The CHD oversees the initial health screening of CNW campers and is responsible for maintaining their confidential medical histories and records. The Director will manage daily health screenings, surveillance of campers, stocking and maintaining first aid kits, and keeping the camp’s daily medical log. The Health Director will additionally provide support to Skidmore’s Sports Camps (week-long day camps in various sports for children 6+) on an as-needed basis. This position will take a lead role in training staff in Covid-19 related matters. The Director will also provide contract tracing support for camper Covid-19 cases and communicate the results to campus personnel and the Saratoga County Health Department. The Director will work closely with camp counselors, coaches and assistant coaches, athletic trainers, Skidmore’s Department of Health Services and may work with other Skidmore departments and personnel including, but not limited to, Campus Safety, Housekeeping, Facility Services, and the Covid Planning Group. The Health Director will be also called upon to communicate with camper parents and families and the New York State Department of Health if needed.

Rate of pay is $30.00 per hour.
