The Associate Director Compliance performs duties to ensure institutional compliance with department, institutional, state, federal, NCAA and ACC guidelines. Assists the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance with the overall operations of athletics compliance including compliance-related projects and other administrative duties as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coordination of day-to-day compliance activities; serve as liaison with multiple offices on campus; athletics, registrar, financial aid, housing, admissions; provide legislative and interpretive guidelines for institution; oversight of specific compliance components as noted below.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree/Juris Doctor preferred.

• Two (2) plus years of full-time experience applying Division I NCAA rules and regulations at a Division I institution.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to interact with diverse groups is required.

• Strong knowledge of LSDBi and recruiting software.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator.

• Willing to work evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

• Monitors potential and proposed changes to NCAA legislation’ Works with the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance to develop, draft, and propose ACC and NCAA legislation.

• Performs initial eligibility assessments of prospective student-athletes to determine if they will meet NCAA standards.

• Oversees camp and clinic approval process.

• Provides NCAA rules interpretations as primary sport contact for several of the institution’s athletics programs.

• Develops comprehensive NCAA rules education program.

• Prepares NCAA rules education documents for monthly Coaching Staff /Compliance Meetings.

• Prepares and delivers NCAA rules education to all student-athletes multiple times per academic year.

• Prepares and delivers NCAA rules education to all athletic department staff members several times per academic year.

• Prepares and delivers NCAA rules education to boosters, constituency groups, and the Syracuse Community at various times throughout the year.

• Writes violation self-reports and waivers of NCAA rules as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.

• Assist with compliance-related projects and perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.
