Printmaker Studio Art, Printmaker. The Department of Art and Art History welcomes applications for a full time, in person, Visiting Assistant Professor position for the academic year 2021-2022, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. Artistic practice and teaching specialties should include a range of printmaking areas, including monoprint, relief, plate lithography and digital printmaking. Printmaking encompasses both traditional and experimental methods, and our curriculum supports a number of hybrid explorations. The studio is highly flexible; equipment includes two etching presses, a lithography press and exposure unit as well as an area for papermaking. Adjacent studios provide a photocopier, large format inkjet printer, color laser printer and laser cutter. Candidates should be prepared to teach Introduction to Studio Art, Introduction to Printmaking and to support the printmaking curriculum. There will also be opportunities to teach drawing and to advise students involved in advanced studio courses, including the capstone senior project. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the printmaking studio and organizing student studio monitors. In addition, a distinguished printmaker, archivist and activist will be in residence throughout the academic year, organizing speakers, workshops and events germane to the history and practice of political graphics. The person in the VAP position will be fully involved in supporting these initiatives, working to establish the printmaking studio as a collaborative, productive space for building community and making art. Completion of the MFA is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire. The teaching load is five courses per year.
