Job Summary
The Office of Development and the College of Architecture Design and Construction ( CADC ) are conducting a search for a Development Associate I who can enhance, further develop, and implement the use of digital engagement and solicitation strategies to enable the college to identify and engage stakeholders, enhancing both the breadth and depth of alumni involvement. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, energetic professional with strong multi-tasking skills, robust computer and online technical skills and sound judgment who can perform the role of an annual gift fundraiser. Annual gifts are those under $25,000, and may take the form of program support, scholarships, and/or sponsorships. The development associate will manage crowdfunding efforts and serve as a liaison for digital engagement efforts with the Annual Fund. The position’s responsibilities will include the development of comprehensive metrics to demonstrate the results of the associate’s efforts.

The college comprises the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture, the McWhorter School of Building Science, and the School of Industrial + Graphic Design. We offer undergraduate programs in architecture, building construction, environmental design, graphic design, industrial design, interior architecture, and landscape architecture. Graduate programs in building construction, integrated design and construction, industrial design, landscape architecture, and real estate development allow both specialization and integration. In addition, signature pedagogies such as futures studio in Mobile, AL; Rural Studio in Newbern, AL; Urban Studio in Birmingham, AL; and the Center for Construction Innovation and Collaboration in Auburn, AL are influential, distinguishing features of our academic programs. Essential Functions
Essential Functions:
1. Direct Solicitation/Stewardship: Using digital strategies, the associate will identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward selected alumni as annual donors, advocates, and volunteers with a focus on gifts under $25,000. The development associate will identify alumni influencers for the college in the digital and social media realms, actively seek ways to best utilize new fundraising technologies in annual giving to meet development goals, objectives and metrics; will maintain comprehensive information in the donor database about engagement efforts and personal interactions. The associate will properly acknowledge annual gifts through either email, letter, phone call and/or participating in/attending events and functions for donors.
2. Digital Engagement Strategy: The associate will develop a comprehensive digital engagement and solicitation strategy for identified segments of the alumni base. The associate will curate information from technology such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and others to measure demonstrated interest for college priorities. The associate will work closely with partners in the Annual Fund on engagement strategies and with colleagues for solicitation strategies.
3. Data Analysis: The associate will design and execute data-driven metrics to evaluate the reach and return for all digital engagement strategies, manage the establishment of baseline analysis for all annual giving digital solicitations and digital engagement efforts, and work with the director and other members of the College development and annual giving teams to identify trends as they develop.
4. Special Projects: Manages, directs, and creates all CADC’s crowdfunding efforts including Tiger Giving Day annual online campaign.

Minimum Skills and Abilities
Experience with all forms of social media, including social media metrics. Willingness to try new approaches and learn new skills. Strong data analysis experience, strategic planning, data analysis, and written communication skills are required. Must be organized, versatile and a self-starter. Excellent computer and word-processing skills required. Desire to work with a variety of digital platforms and identified alumni interests. Ability to be a team player in a collaborative, face-paced environment. Desire to work in a system that emphasizes measurable objectives which include targets for fundraising goals are required.
Must be able and willing to work some weekends, evenings, and to travel occasionally.

Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated success in fundraising or engagement activities at a major research university; ability to thrive in a complex, dynamic, demanding environment, and to manage competing priorities; and strong organizational, strategic, analytical, and project management skills are all desired. Proven track record of successful media campaigns and a strong motivation to exceed annual goals.
