Job Description:

The Student Health and Wellness Center at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant. This is a full-time, college year position (ten months) with expectations to provide primary health care to college students.

The mission of Student Health Services is to provide medical care to registered students and to promote healthy lifestyle choices to all members of the campus community. Duties include but not limited to: performing comprehensive histories and physical exams that include cognitive and psychosocial status; educating, counseling and assisting patients regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventative behaviors; using evidence-based knowledge in clinical decision making in the management of wellness and acute health care including Covid-19 testing and diagnosis; developing pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans; monitoring the effectiveness of plan of care; collaborating and/or consulting with other health care providers as appropriate; collaborating/referring to appropriate on-campus student resources as needed; using evidence-based knowledge to address the well-being of students and to enhance retention and academic success; documenting within the Electronic Medical Record system. The position requires the ability to provide high quality health care according to federal and NYS laws, American College Health Association standards and SUNY Oneonta and Student Health Center policies and procedures as related to college health.


Requirements:

Required qualifications: master's degree; NYS license for Registered Nurse and certification as Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner -OR- NYS license and certification as a Physician Assistant; current national certification.

Preferred: two years' recent experience in college/school-based health, family medicine, urgent care, or women's health; experience working with and serving diverse populations.
