Minimum Qualifications
  • Must hold a Master’s degree.
  • Must have had 3 years of public school teaching experience.
  • Experience in teacher preparation.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role.
License/Certification Required

North Carolina Teaching License preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Clinical Education is responsible for all field experiences that are required for education majors. This includes Professional Core field experiences, content-based field experiences, International Student Teaching, and clinical internship (student teaching).

Duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinating the placement of all Professional Core field experiences, content based/methods course field experiences and clinical internship for all education majors.
  • Implementation of edTPA for all teacher education majors.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Teacher Education on the field experiences for the Professional Core courses. This includes ensuring that the courses and field components are interconnected.
  • Collaborate with the Coordinator of Clinical Internships to offer informational meetings and determine placement decisions for student teachers.
  • Records grades for all students enrolled in Clinical Internship (student teaching) each semester.
  • Coordinate International student teaching.
  • Attend NC State Field Director meetings.
  • Attend NC edTPA regional meetings.
  • Attend other state and regional meetings as appropriate.
  • Provide professional development for University Field Supervisors.
  • Manages field experience budgets.
  • Hires supervisors for field experiences.
