Minimum Qualifications
  • Must hold a Master's degree.
  • Must have had 3 years of public school teaching experience.
  • Experience in teacher preparation.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally in the exchange of information with students, faculty, staff, and P-12 partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role or coaching beginning teachers.
  • Understands how field experiences tie into teacher education and the preparation of future teachers.
License/Certification Required
North Carolina Teaching license preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Clinical Education is responsible for all field experiences that are required for all education majors. This includes Professional Core field experiences, content-based field experiences, International Student Teaching, and Clinical internships (student teaching). This position also serves as the edTPA Coordinator.

Duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:
  • Coordinating the placement of all Professional Core field experiences, content-based/methods course field experiences, and clinical internship (student teaching) for all education majors.
  • Implementation and guidance of edTPA for all teacher education majors.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Teacher Education on the field experiences for the Professional Core courses. This includes ensuring that the courses and field components are interconnected.
  • Collaborating with the Coordinator of Clinical Internships to offer informational meetings and determine placement decisions for student teachers.
  • Records grades for all students enrolled in Clinical Internship (student teaching) each semester.
  • Attend North Carolina Educator Preparation Field Director meetings, NC edTPA regional meetings, and other state and regional meetings as appropriate.
  • Hire and provide professional development for all field supervisors.
  • Manage field experience budgets.
