    Position Summary
    The Coordinator of Intramural Sports and Youth Camps is a full-time position that provides leadership for a diverse, dynamic, and comprehensive intramural sports program, which includes individual/dual activities, team sports, and special events, as well as assisting in the operations and oversight of Youth Camps.

    This position reports to the Department of Physical Education & Recreation Assistant Director for Intramural Sports and Assistant Director for Youth and Family Programs. The Coordinator will serve as acting in capacity in the absence of the Assistant Directors when necessary.

    This position will primarily serve the Intramural Sports Program Fall, Winter, and Spring terms and will serve Youth Camps during winter break, no school days, spring break, summer, and during school year special events, such as Family Rec Day and Rec or Treat.

    The Coordinator supports the Assistant Directors with budget planning, policy development, safety/risk management and assessment of intramural programs, special events, and youth camps and oversees activity development and logistics for all Youth Camps and serves as lead administrator for intramural special events and tournaments.

    This position hires, trains and supervises approximately 90 student officials throughout the school year and provides effective leadership, management and mentoring for student development focused programs including the development of sports officials and youth camp counselors.

    The Coordinator incorporates current and future technology practices into the Intramural Sports Program involving Online Scheduling and Maintenance. This position will assist with all intramural participant conduct and eligibility issues.

    Evening and weekend hours are required.

    Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration, Sports Management, Physical Education, or related field
  • Two years of experience in sports officiating and training, supervision, and evaluation of student sports officials and field/court supervisors
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain within 45 days of employment

    Professional Competencies
  • Demonstrated experience with and/or commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment
  • Proficient with using computer applications (e.g. Word, Excel, IM Leagues, e-mail, database tracking, and computer maintenance management system)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Recreation Administration, Sports Management, Physical Education, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience working with a youth camp or youth sports program
  • Experience in management and implementation of sponsorships
  • Fiscal oversight experience
  • Evidence of leadership experience and/or a commitment to student learning and development
  • A comprehensive understanding of university Intramural Sports programs, operations, and services
