Department Summary
The Department of Physics is an instructional and research department within the College of Arts and Sciences that supports significant research activities in a wide range of fields in the Physics discipline. The Department includes approximately 35 teaching faculty, emeritus faculty, research staff, graduate students and professional/administrative staff. The department enrolls approximately 2,000 students per term, with approximately 200 undergraduate Physics majors, 50 students in the pre-engineering program and 105 doctoral students.

Position Summary
The Department of Physics at the University of Oregon is seeking qualified applications for its Research open applicant pool. Positions are limited duration appointments that are part time or short term contracts not to exceed one year. Possibility of renewal up to a total of three years, depending on programmatic need, funding, and performance. The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

These positions will be working in one of the research groups, the Institute for Fundamental Science or the Oregon Center for Optical, Molecular and Quantum Science.

The Research Assistant positions will conduct research under the direction of the Principal investigator (PI).

The Research Associate positions will be conducting research with only general guidance from the PI.

The Postdoctoral Scholar positions conduct research under the direction of a faculty member for the purpose of acquiring research training.

Salary is dependent upon education, experience and available funding..

Minimum Requirements
Research Assistant - a Bachelor's degree in Physics or other related field, along with appropriate research experience.

Research Associate - A PhD by the start of the position with relevant professional experience in a research lab.

Postdoctoral Scholar - A PhD by the start of the position with relevant professional experience in a research lab.
