Department Summary
The SOJC is an ACEJMC-accredited program with over a 100-year history at the University of Oregon, which is a comprehensive research university and a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU). Our program thrives as a journalism and communication school known for innovation, ethics, and action. We offer four undergraduate concentrations (in advertising, journalism, media studies, and public relations), five professional and academic master's programs, and a doctoral program in media studies.

Position Summary
Positions are limited duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years. In limited circumstances, there is the possibility of renewal beyond three years based on programmatic need, funding, and performance.

SOJC Portland, along with the main UO School of Journalism and Communication, is a community of scholars and professionals dedicated to freedom of expression and public service. By integrating theory and practice, we prepare students to become professional communicators, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens in a global society. SOJC Portland's professional master's include degrees in Multimedia Journalism and Strategic Communication. We also seek instructors for media studies context courses.

Minimum Requirements
  • Master's degree (in exceptional circumstances, significant professional experience may substitute for a degree).

  • A firm commitment to working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Substantial professional experience in the subject to be taught.
  • Demonstrated or strong potential for teaching excellence.
