Responsibilities:
- Assist students and parents in the office or via phone in a timely and friendly manner.
- Certify student/parent eligibility for Federal and Alternative loans to the appropriate agency (Department of Education, COD, lender/guarantee agency).
- Serve as liaison for the Financial Aid Office with the various lending agencies (Department of Education, COD, lenders and guarantee agencies).
- Coordinate and monitor entrance counseling for all students.
- Manage and coordinate the electronic funds transfer (EFT) of loan proceeds.
- Coordinate with the Business Office regarding return of loan funds.
- Perform Transfer Monitoring process through NSLDS.
- Remain current with federal and state guidelines that govern the various student and parent loan programs.
- Counsel students and parents as needed on form completion, application status, etc.
- Assist with daily mail and office email account.
- Assist with financial aid packaging process and serve as backup to completing financial aid adjustments.
- Assist students and parents in the office or via phone in a timely and friendly manner.
- Assist with processing of special circumstance process.
- Supervise student workers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma/GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience in an office setting required
- Knowledge of financial aid forms, programs, etc. preferred
- Ability to understand and implement the Federal regulatory policies governing the administration of financial aid programs.
Technology Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to use University software to create & maintain student financial aid records
Human Relations Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and organizational skills.
- Effectively and professionally communicate with staff regarding financial aid.
- Excellent professional judgement.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Ability to build strong relationships with leadership, management, students, parents, faculty, and staff through a consultative, collaborative and active problem-solving approach.
- Sensitivity to the needs of students, parents and colleagues.
- Ability to communicate with students and their families effectively and professionally when appropriate.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, organize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
