Position Summary:

OSU-Cascades is seeking a Science Laboratory Preparator. This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time position, located in beautiful Bend, Oregon.

This position provides support to science laboratory teaching programs by preparing chemistry or biology laboratories for use by students and faculty, including, but not limited to, preparing media, solutions, and other teaching materials; maintaining laboratory equipment and instrumentation; budgeting, sourcing, and procuring all supplies, and testing the laboratory exercises/experiments to determine if their directions and procedures are appropriate to achieve desired results.

The anticipated start date is September 1, 2021 dependent upon candidate availability.

OSU-Cascades, located in Bend, Oregon, is a campus of Oregon State University. Established in 2001, the university currently enrolls more than 1,300 students in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The campus expanded to a four-year university in 2015, and opened its 10-acre campus in fall 2016. The Oregon legislature approved additional funding in 2017 and 2018 for continued campus expansion, which is currently in progress. The campus has ambitious enrollment goals to reach 3,000 students and is engaged in building a culturally diverse and community-centric educational environment.

Minimum Qualifications:              

  • Twelve college credit hours with passing grades in a physical and/or life science, which included laboratory procedures, such as anatomy, biology, botany, chemistry, general science, geology, physics, or zoology; AND one year of laboratory experience which provided a knowledge of laboratory testing and/or demonstration methods and techniques.
  • An established commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
  • This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
