PRIMARY DUTY: This tenure-track faculty position directly supports Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Recreation Management and Sport Management through course instruction, student advisement, and collaborative curriculum management. Candidates with teaching specializations and expertise in any aspect of Park and Recreation Management, Sport Management or other closely related fields will be considered.  Potential teaching assignments include courses related to recreation administration, recreation and sport management, risk management, foundations of recreation, leadership, programming, facility design and operations, and other related content areas.  Other responsibilities for the position include student advisement and mentorship, supervision of internships, active participation in school and university committees and initiatives, and engagement in creative and scholarly works. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Teaching: Develop and deliver graduate and undergraduate courses in the recreation curriculum utilizing both on-line and on-ground modes of delivery. Supervise undergraduate and graduate field experiences and internships. Additional summer courses may be available.
  2. Creative and Scholarly Efforts: Establish significant contributions of creative and scholarly research, participate in the generation and sharing of knowledge through conference presentations, journal publications, and other appropriate outlets.
  3. Service and Student Support: Assist with student recruitment, student advisement, student development and retention. Active participation in related professional and community organizations, service on departmental, college, university committees.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

        Education: Doctorate, with at least one graduate degree in Parks and Recreation Management, Sport Management, or a closely related field

        Certification/License: Any related (C.P.R.P., etc.)      

        Experience: Three or more years of College level teaching, at least one year of online-course delivery experience; recent and successful professional related publishing; practical professional related experience; successful grant writing and/or service contracts/consulting

        Skills: Strong interpersonal communication skills; computer skills (sufficient to develop on-line courses); organizational and administrative skills; a demonstrated collaborative approach to work and classroom instruction                           

 

WORKING CONDITIONS: Typical classroom and office conditions with weekly office hours required          

 

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: Faculty are issued a personal laptop.  All classrooms are technology-enhanced (document stations, video equipment, wireless Internet access)
