Posting Details

Position Title Digital Communication Specialist Overview

Produce and disseminate strategic, creative, and innovative content for the College’s digital communications channels, including social media, web, and email; all in support of the College’s strategic goals. Manage the technical aspects of certain digital communications channels, including apps used for alumni/advancement marketing, advancement related events such as Homecoming and Reunion, other high-profile activities such as Commencement, and certain alumni/fundraising websites.

Essential Duties:

1. Extend the College’s visual brand identity and storytelling effectiveness through digital communications including video, photography, graphics, and animations. Provide creative digital content and technical support to enhance critical institutional marketing efforts—in particular, those related to admission and advancement. Ensure high-quality, targeted, and coordinated digital messaging rooted in the College’s strategic priorities; work to continually integrate and express the College’s brand identity.

2. Create and publish content (videos, GIFs, slideshows, etc.) for social media platforms. Create and publish search and UX-optimized web content across multiple College web properties. Collaborate with others to create a dynamic, engaging online presence focused on supporting high-profile marketing efforts, especially those related to admission and advancement. Participate with divisional colleagues in creating multimedia content and developing/executing a coordinating social media and web strategy. Maintain social media accounts by monitoring comments, replying/engaging as needed, creating updated videos and graphics, and monitoring paid social media initiatives. Manage the online giving form.

3. Collaborate with the Director of Advancement Communications and the Assistant Director for Digital Services to create a dynamic, online presence for high-priority marketing partners, e.g., admission and advancement. Oversee the creation of emails; and coordinate, prioritize, edit, and facilitate e-communications related to solicitations, news, and events.

4. Source digital content by attending College events, programs, and activities and by collaborating with students, faculty, and staff to gather/develop storytelling assets. Develop a network of sources and a personal proficiency for identifying, collecting, producing, and distributing timely story content for distribution on digital platforms.

Marginal Duties:

1. Perform all other duties as may be required.

Education and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required.

• Three to five years’ experience in professional communications with emphasis on digital communications or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

• Solid writing skills.

• Fluency in digital communications, especially web-based messaging systems, social media channels, and web content management systems.

• Proven video and graphics editing/production capabilities.

• Proven photographic abilities.

• Specific familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, YouTube Studio, general CMS experience, and Content Management Systems.
